Questions we get asked a lot.

If your question isn't here, the fastest way to get an answer is to drop us a message.

How long does it take to produce a film?

Most corporate and brand films take four to eight weeks from agreed brief to final delivery. Social content can be turned around in days. Branded documentaries and multi-part series typically run two to four months. We give you a timeline before anything begins and keep to it. Most delays come from approvals, not production.

What's the difference between a branded documentary and a corporate video?

A corporate video has a clear message and a structure to deliver it. A branded documentary tells a real story. The techniques are different: one addresses the viewer directly, the other draws them in. Both work. The choice depends on what you want the audience to feel, and the best branded content often sits somewhere between the two.

Do I need a detailed brief before getting in touch?

No. Some clients come with a brief, a confirmed budget and a shoot date. Others come with a business problem and nothing else. Both are fine. An early conversation, before anything is fixed, is often where the most useful thinking happens.

Who will actually work on our project?

You'll work directly with Jack and George throughout, from the first conversation to delivery. We don't pitch one team and produce with another. When a shoot needs a larger crew, we bring in camera operators, sound recordists, gaffers and post-production specialists we've worked with for years. The creative and editorial direction stays with us.

Who owns the footage and finished film?

When the final invoice is settled, full copyright of the finished film transfers to you. Ownership of raw footage is agreed before the project begins; we're happy to include it in the scope if it matters to you. Rights, licensing and usage are always discussed early, so nothing gets to the end in dispute.

Do you work outside Bristol and travel for shoots?

Yes, regularly. We're Bristol-based but have filmed across the UK and internationally, including in the USA, South Korea, Germany, France and Norway. For international productions we work with local crews to keep logistics tight and costs sensible. Travel is always budgeted transparently at the start.

Can a finished film be used across different platforms and formats?

Yes, and it's worth thinking about from day one. Where the film will live (social media, broadcast, internal comms, a website) should inform how we shoot it, what we edit to, and which aspect ratios we capture. On most projects we deliver a master file alongside platform-specific cuts as part of the agreed scope.

Filmmakers first.

We are filmmakers Jack Fisher and George Hopkins, and founded Odd Duck after discovering a shared approach to telling stories using film. With experience across brand films, documentaries and corporate video production, we built a company focused on making high-quality video, clearly delivered, thoughtfully made, and easy to trust.

The name reflects a shared instinct to stay curious, challenge convention, and take the work more seriously than ourselves.

We believe video is one of the clearest, most effective ways to communicate, and so does your audience. We make films that help brands share their message clearly — to the public, their audiences or their teams.

Every project is different, so we shape our process around what's needed — from leading the creative process from concept to delivery, to being involved as filmmakers, editors or animators within a larger team.
